The River Room restaurant at The Swan is an important part of every guest’s stay. It also has a first-class reputation among Lakes locals, who are often prepared to make a special journey for dinner.

Local, seasonal produce
Our chef seeks out fresh seasonal produce from a range of local suppliers and 90% of the cheese, meat and vegetables we serve are sourced from the area around the hotel.

Fish, game and chargrilled dishes are always in demand. Our chef has created an extremely popular modern British menu with Mediterranean influences, of course, it’s always worth trying one of the day’s specials – many of which have proved so popular they’ve eventually made their way on to the regular menu.

 

Bringing flair to fine wines
Our wine list is extensive and meticulously researched, you’ll have a chance to experiment with some superb vintages. If you want to splash out on a special occasion, you’ll find that we often have unusual and rare bottles that may be the only ones of their type in the UK. Where else will you find a 1976 Kesterner Paulinshofberg Beerenauslese, for instance? Our George Gardet Champagnes are more normally found at the Dorchester or upmarket restaurants such as The Ivy and Caprice.

Catering for children
If you’re visiting with children, you’re sure of a warm welcome, as well as menu especially developed for younger members of the family. We go out of the way to make them feel special. Our Executive chef ensures their favourite meals are prepared with the same care and attention as the grown ups. Children can entertain themselves with our complimentary colouring packs.
